1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using GitOpticon ("the Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provision of this agreement. If you do not agree to abide by the above, please do not use this service.

2. Use License

Permission is granted to use GitOpticon for repository analytics and governance purposes subject to the following restrictions:

  • You must not modify or copy the materials except for personal use
  • You must not use the materials for any commercial purpose without authorization
  • You must not attempt to reverse engineer any software contained within the Service
  • You must not remove any copyright or proprietary notations from the materials

3. User Accounts

When you create an account with us, you must provide accurate, complete, and current information. Failure to do so constitutes a breach of the Terms, which may result in immediate termination of your account.

You are responsible for safeguarding the password that you use to access the Service and for any activities or actions under your password.

4. Data and Privacy

GitOpticon analyzes repository data to provide insights and governance capabilities. By using the Service, you agree that:

  • You have the necessary permissions to connect repositories to the Service
  • You authorize GitOpticon to access and analyze repository metadata and code
  • Your data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy
  • We may use aggregated, anonymized data for service improvements

5. GitHub Integration

GitOpticon integrates with GitHub to provide repository analytics. By installing the GitOpticon GitHub App:

  • You grant GitOpticon the permissions requested during the GitHub App installation
  • You acknowledge that GitOpticon will receive webhook events from connected repositories
  • You can revoke access at any time through GitHub App settings
  • We will only access the repositories you explicitly authorize

6. AI Analysis

GitOpticon uses artificial intelligence to analyze code and provide governance recommendations. You understand that:

  • AI analysis results are provided for informational purposes only
  • You are responsible for validating AI-generated insights
  • We make no guarantees about the accuracy of AI analysis
  • AI features may be updated or changed without notice

7. Service Availability

GitOpticon strives to provide reliable service but does not guarantee uninterrupted access. We reserve the right to:

  • Modify or discontinue the Service with reasonable notice
  • Perform scheduled maintenance with minimal disruption
  • Limit features or access for security or performance reasons

8. Prohibited Uses

You may not use GitOpticon to:

  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Infringe on intellectual property rights of others
  • Transmit malicious code or attempt to gain unauthorized access
  • Abuse, harass, or harm other users
  • Scrape or systematically extract data from the Service
  • Use the Service for competitive analysis or reverse engineering

9. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content (excluding user data), features, and functionality are owned by GitOpticon and are protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.

10. Limitation of Liability

GitOpticon shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from:

  • Your access to or use of or inability to access or use the Service
  • Any conduct or content of any third party on the Service
  • Any content obtained from the Service
  • Unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your transmissions or content

11. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including without limitation if you breach the Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will provide at least 30 days' notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
